September is wrapped up, the new school year is underway and students are settling into their classroom routines. Here at RTL we’re reflecting on another successful Back To School Program.

With generous community support from people and organizations like you, Readiness To Learn was able to walk alongside 140 local families, giving 265 students the brand new gear, confidence, and joy needed to start the year strong. Behind every backpack selected at family shopping appointments, was a moment of connection and concrete relief. But the impact went far beyond backpacks and notebooks.

For parents and caregivers, the program provided a vital breathing room during a stressful time of year. Of the parents who completed our impact survey, an incredible 100% of participating families reported less financial strain, and stress scores dropped by 51.9%. Caregivers shared that knowing their community had their back helped families feel safe, secure, and truly cared for.

This shared effort of the Back To School Program deeply strengthened community ties. An overwhelming 94.1% of parents felt a warmer, stronger sense of belonging and connection to the South Whidbey community. That sense of security carried straight to the children: 94.1% of parents saw their kids feel happier, more confident, and ready to eagerly participate in school and social activities.
