It was another FUN summer!

As summer winds down, we're reflecting back on this year's SummerFUN camps.

SummerFUN 2024 was held at the South Whidbey Community Center July 9th through August 1st 2024. This year 112 kids were able to participate in a vibrant mix of no cost arts and crafts, music, STEAM learning, movement, and theater camps! This provided kids in our community an enriching experience and a chance to connect with their peers and build community before the start of the school year.

Students created beautiful art, learned the basics of different instruments, became budding thespians stepping into the spotlight and expressing themselves in new ways exploring the world of theater, engaged in hands-on observations and experiments in our Wild Water Camp and climbed, jumped and played in Gravity Fighters!

Our free summer day camps offer a vital resource for families who might otherwise face financial barriers to having enriching activity options for their children through the summer. Summer camp options are often very expensive, so these camps provide a crucial opportunity for kids to engage in fun and educational activities without the barrier of cost.

As one parent shared:

"This program provides a much needed break and breathing room for our family in an area where summer activities are limited, and many are outrageously expensive. RTL provides programs that my child loves, and gives me the opportunity to take care of errands and get a mental break."

By alleviating financial pressures and offering quality programs, we help support families throughout the summer!

We are so very thankful as well for the many partnerships that help support us in providing these camps, WIN for providing delicious and nutritious lunches and snacks, and all of the amazing facilitators who shared their passions and knowledge and created such fun and engaging camps for the students in our community! We can't wait for next year!

As always, thank you again for your support. Without you, these programs would not exist.

In gratitude,

The team at Readiness to Learn
